Doveya is a private space for two people. It is built so that the people running it need to know as little about you as possible.
Only the two people in a pair. Doveya's security rules restrict every document to the members of that pair, and there is no feed, no directory and no way to find another user.
Letters left at places need location access to notice when you arrive somewhere. That check happens entirely on your device. Doveya does not follow you around: there is no record of where you have been, and your position is never sent anywhere as you move.
What is stored is the place you chose for a letter — the coordinates of the pin and the radius you set — because the letter has to know where it is waiting. If you use current location to drop that pin, those coordinates are where you were standing at that moment, and they are saved with the letter. Only the two of you can see them, and they are deleted when the letter is.
Doveya Plus is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple. Doveya never sees your payment details. When you buy it, the app records on your pair's own record that the purchase happened — the product identifier, the App Store transaction identifier and the date — so your partner's phone unlocks too. That is the whole of it.
There are none. Doveya contains no analytics SDK, no advertising and no trackers.
Unpairing in Doveya removes the connection and the copy held on your device. To have the pair's records deleted from the server, write to the address below and say so.
Doveya uses Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, Cloud Functions and Cloud Messaging) to move data between the two phones, and Apple's push notification service to deliver notifications.
